The Alphabet 8s Chart
The Lazy 8 movement is one of the 26 Brain Gym movements.  It is used to help improve eye tracking and binocular vision to help reading and writing skills. Many people with visual stress find this movement quite difficult to begin with and find their eye muscles are strained when moving from side to side or up and down without moving their head at all. The Lazy 8 helps to relax and tone the eye muscles improving visual focus and eye teaming skills for reading. Learners enjoy the physical (kinesthetic and tactile) experience of tracing the alphabet letters on this colourful and visually calming chart of the Alphabet 8s activity from Brain Gym. Discover the alpha and beta letters. How do they feel alike? How do they feel different? Students/children will soon be writing (and reading) with ease and confidence.
35 x 43 cm.  Laminated.

Integrate the Movements Involved in Writing.  The Alphabet 8s Chart is a hands-on teaching aid, designed so that children can use their fingers to trace the letters of the alphabet right on the chart. The word ‘alphabet’ comes from the root words of ‘alpha’ and ‘beta’. Once we put together the ‘alpha’ and ‘beta’ shapes of the Lazy 8, we can easily learn the whole alphabet. Young learners who read or write backwards often can’t see what they are doing wrong. As these students physically follow the letter, their visual confusion is resolved.
